What’s it like living in a multi-cat household? Sometimes it’s interspecies war. Sometimes it models the UN.

With the endless rain and conveyor belt of storms we’ve been getting, I haven’t been able to get really good pictures of the cats. The lighting is awfully dim in the house, and the cats don’t want to go outside in the enclosure, except for Bruce of course. Since they mostly nap when the weather’s [...]

During the year, we celebrate each of our birthdays in the beauty salon where I work with a pot luck. They happen on Thursdays because that’s when all of us are there. We take turns bringing the desert and cater it to the specific likes of the birthday girl. We’re renowned for our pot lucks [...]

I’m not good in an emergency. I hate to admit that, but it’s true. If you need a level-headed, quick-thinking woman who can keep from sweating under pressure, then don’t call me. Not only can’t I make a decision that I can live with, I get hysterical and cry uncontrollably when faced with a serious [...]

Yes, we’re up and running again! Hooray! I’d like to thank my hostess for all of her hard work and dedication in getting the HOP blog back on the air. She’s been puttin’ in hours of serious time getting my lovely kitties back in front of their audience. Lots has been happening, so off I [...]

Do your cats drool? More specifically, do your cats drool when you’re loving on them? Three of the cats in the HOP drool like babies when we show them lots of love: Juga, Mars, and Bruce. Even though it’s a bit messy and gross, it’s also quite cute. And, we love that they’re so appreciative [...]

For the first time in six months we got rain Friday and Saturday. Therefore, it’s been six months since the cats have snuggled together, or even with us. That, along with the lower temperatures, has forced the cats to find any port in a storm to keep warm. However, these pictures aren’t rare. I love [...]

Living with many, many cats we tend to approach situations with this in mind. Since we need to accommodate so many cats, this has changed our outlook on the way we live. For example, the past two times we bought new cars, the number one question we always asked was, “But, how many cats can [...]

Living in Paradise, California, means living with the ever-present threat of fire. However, it also means living with the best trained fire departments in the state. The Humbolt Fire was devastating and costly, but it could’ve been much worse. All of Paradise, including Mom and I, are eternally grateful to the many local and surrounding [...]

“Bruce!” I shouted at Bruce after he swiped at Mars’ face, missing his nose by the width of a whisker. Mars ran off, and Bruce turned, stood his ground and looked up at me. It was his way of retaliating after I closed the kitchen window that opens to the outdoor enclosure for the night. [...]

This is a picture of a common phenomenon in our multi-cat household; a human buried under several cats. In the winter it’s wonderful. And, since we’re experiencing an unusually chilly spring, it’s still very comfortable to sleep under the pile. Note: There really is a person under all those cats and one dog; my mother.
