What’s it like living in a multi-cat household? Sometimes it’s interspecies war. Sometimes it models the UN.

As she has so often been described in the past, Tiny Pea is a cat with an attitude. Neither canine nor feline can make her cower or run away. And, as it seems, Homo Erectus can also be added to the list. I’m sure that if we riffled through her fur, we’d eventually discover either [...]

Today’s POC isn’t my usual standard. Instead of my dreamy, awe-inspiring photos, these photos are a bit more relaxed. Since its Fall and the weather’s chilly, the cats aren’t so happily willing to pose for me. Besides, how can I take beautiful photos when there’s not one whiskered smile in the entire HOP? Enjoy!

At our friend’s house on Thanksgiving, their cat, Missy, walked into the dining room and mewed at her humans for attention. She’s quite shy and waited until after Thanksgiving Meal to make an appearance. As we were sitting at the table playing Spades, quietly strategizing, she cautiously made her way into the room. She’s a [...]

Awww! What a lovely Kodak Moment. These two sisters, Smudge and Zoe, are the nicest litter mates. I love watching them snuggle and cuddle each other. And I love, of course, taking pictures when they do. The girls rarely squabble with one another and most often sleep together. I just think they are completely adorable.

I started noticing that Ariel wasn’t quite herself last Friday; she didn’t eat much, she wasn’t as vocal as usual, and her eyes didn’t look right. It’s always the look in cat’s eyes that tells the secret of its pain. Cats go to great lengths to hide when they aren’t at their best. This is [...]

The cat’s meow is as varied and colorful as our language’s slang and profanity. Mom and I know when the cats want something; we know how they feel when we haven’t given them what they want; and we know when we’ve been insulted. We don’t need to understand any particular meow; from the tone and [...]

I really don’t mind Monday’s because I have that day off from work. I get lots done around the HOP, while wearing my pajamas, and I can go out and shop in relative peace since most everyone else is at work. However, Monday isn’t a very relaxing or enjoyable day for the cats of the [...]

Every once in a while (stifled laughter), Mom and I will get frustrated by the amount of housecleaning we do around the HOP because of the cats. It’s like living with seventeen teenagers who just want to lie around and eat. We walk through the front door and the demands are sent flying in our [...]

According to Pooka, Pixie is good for a footrest. In fact, she comes in quite handy for both her brothers when they just want to put their paws up and relax. They come to her when they want to be groomed and snuggled, and she obliges. When they approach her, they don’t simply lie next [...]

The HOP only has one bathroom. Sometimes one isn’t enough for my mother and I let alone 17 cats. But, Mom and I make it work between us. However, the cats don’t seem as willing to cooperate with us at least. As soon as we walk into the bathroom, we hear the thundering of several [...]
