What’s it like living in a multi-cat household? Sometimes it’s interspecies war. Sometimes it models the UN.

Living with many, many cats we tend to approach situations with this in mind. Since we need to accommodate so many cats, this has changed our outlook on the way we live. For example, the past two times we bought new cars, the number one question we always asked was, “But, how many cats can [...]

The evening we were finally settled back into the HOP, after I’d cleaned and made dinner for Mom and I, the cats were content. All was right with the world. Pooka was even sleeping peacefully too. As he lay on Mom’s bed, his paws comfortably folded under his chin, and his head lying on one [...]

The cats have completely recovered from our evacuation having satisfied their curiosity through scent and sight identification that the HOP is really the HOP and not some foreign land. In fact, within an hour of returning home, they were as normal as if it’d never happened. Go figure! The cats did better than we did. [...]

When we finally got the female foster kitten back, she was introduced into an entirely different world and had to become reacquainted with her brothers as she hissed and spit when they were reunited. The first night in Sharon’s house wasn’t peaceful. Despite the comfortable accommodations, the cats were extremely stressed due to the upheaval in their contented lives. However, there was another reason for the cacophony of hissing, spitting, and growling that continued throughout the night; in the HOP, Juga, Jewel, Zoe, and Smudge are separated from the [...]

Despite being incredibly happy by her invitation, I felt slightly worried as I saw her house. From the front it looked very small because there were plants, scrubs, and climbing vines surrounding most of the house. [...]

The three little kittens get cuter with each passing week, and I’ve got the pictures to prove it. They’re happy, and they’re the sweetest kitties. When hand-raising them, I was as gentle as possible. I never played rough with them or allowed them to play rough with me. From six weeks on it’s terribly tempting [...]

Lots of ash fell on our property, as well as on much of our town. But, thankfully, no spot fires were started as a result. As a precaution, we watered our property. We watered the house and several feet of surrounding yard. Now, we can use the hose to clean up. In my hands are [...]

Due to the fires in Northern California, the HOP was evacuated on the 8th of July. While I was in the middle of administering a pedicure, a friend called me to let me know that we needed to evacuate our house; we were under an immediate threat evacuation. I apologized profusely to my client, dried [...]

Ariel is an amazing cat. She’s proved to us time and time again that she’s a fighter. And, she faces each challenge with dignity and finesse. Despite her illnesses, light weight, and advanced age, she won’t let any of that stop her. Her determination only adds to her regality. For the past two weeks, she’s [...]
